2-AGE: 2-AG, or 2-arachidonoyl glycerol, a major cannaboid. Works with CB1 & CB2
5HT: serotonin; compound in blood platelets and serum which acts as a neurotransmitter and constricts the blood vessels.
5HT1A: 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1A; Affects appetite, mood, pain and sleep.
5HT1B/1D: 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1B/1D
5HT2A: 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 2A
AEA: anandamide; derivative of arachidonic acid;involved in depression, pain, fertility, appetite, and memory.
ALA: apha-lipoic acid-an antioxidant found in many foods
HUM: α–humulene or α–caryophyllene, one of the core terpenes is a core monocyclic sesquiterpene which is found in hops and exhibits potent anti-inflammatory effects.
CB1: cannabinoid receptor type 1
CB2: cannabinoid receptor type 2
CBD: cannabidiol – natural byproduct of decarboxylation of CBDA.
CBG, CBN, CBC: natural phytocanniabidnoids
CGRP:calcitonin gene-related peptide.
CSD: cortical spreading depression:cortical spreading depolarization;wave of electro-physiological hyperactivity overtaken by a wave of inhibition.
CYA: liver enzyme which metabolizes up to 60% of pharmaceutical drugs.
DHA: long-chain omega-3 fatty acid:(docosahexaenoic acid).
ECS: endocannabinoid system; discovered by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam
EMT: endocannabinoid membrane transporter
EPA: Long-chain Omega 3 fatty acid:(eicosapentaenoic acid).
FAAH: fatty acid amide hydrolase
GABA: gamma-Aminobutyric acid;neurotransmitter having calming effects on the body.
GABA-A: possibly involved with anti-seizure & anti-anxiety effects.
GPR55: receptor – may help to balance bone density & blood pressure.
GRAS: FDA Certification of “Generally Recognized as Safe Status”;FDA acronym.
IBS: irritable bowel syndrome;chronic gastrointestinal condition.

MS: multiple sclerosis;disease of the central nervous system.
NATURAL: no “real definition” of this word seems to exist.
NER: nerolidol – terpene with a pleasant woody aroma. Used in the flavor industry and in perfumes. Penetrates the skin naturally, leading to its use in transdermal drug applications. Has been shown to have anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties.

Nitrous Oxide: A.K.A., laughing gas; chemical formula: N2O.

OCI:ocimene- Has a pleasant odor, and in nature acts as a plant defense mechanism. This terpene has been shown to exhibit anti-fungal properties. Often cited for assisting with anti-anxiety and calming effects.
PAG: periaqueductal gray; important central relay in cardiovascular and other modulation, including autonomic control of pain.
RVM: rostral ventromedial medulla;forms part of descending pathway, modulating nociceptive neurotransmission at the level of the spinal cord dorsal horn.
TER: terpineol- Often used in perfumes and soaps, and is suggested to have relaxing effects.
THC: tetrahydrocannabinol:a compound found in cannabis causing psychoactive effects.
TRPV1:transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1.
